BEAP Xtra

BEAP Xtra

50 Children from any Primary School, Currently rehearsing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to perform June 28/29 2024.

We are nearing the end of our rehearsal period for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This year as Easter was so early and the City of Liverpool College had trouble fitting us in, we moved to a later performance. This has allowed for extra events to happen such as make up and photography students coming to visit on May 21 and run workshops on how to do SFX make up including prosthetics!

We are not taking any new pupils into BEAPxtra at the moment as we finish this show but if you are interested in joining us next year you can sign up now for Annie the musical which will start in September.

If you would like tickets to come and see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang we are doing three shows and tickets are £7 child/concessions and £10 adults. All performances take place at The City of Liverpool College, Myrtle Street.

Friday 28 June 6.30pm

Saturday 29 June 1.30 and 6.30pm. Get in touch if you want to join us.

HISTORY of BEAPxtra

Over the years, when families have come to see our shows they have asked if children from other schools and not just Our Lady's Bishop Eton could get involved? Well last year we branched out and started BEAPxtra for exactly that reason. We had a fantastic cast for The Little Mermaid last year made up of children from 10 different Primary Schools with an enthusiastic, talented and diverse cast. You can watch their performance by following this link to their live stream:

BEAP Xtra is for children from any Primary School in Yr 3/4/5/6.

Main Roles are auditioned for but everyone is guaranteed a fantastic part in the ensemble should they wish to not audition or are not successful in their audition. The first five weeks are given over to character analysis and audition prep so all the children are fully prepared for auditions should they wish to take part in them. We are a very welcoming group and always look for the positive. The term audition has some negative connections when reflected on in an X Factor model but our auditions are not like that all and everyone tells us, although they are nervous, which is only natural, they are generally a very positive experience.

"I really enjoyed my audition and wanted to do it again!"

"I was nervous but Ali and Emma made me feel at home and I was very proud of myself for doing it."

"I chose not to audition as I really want a part in the ensemble for my first year, maybe next year I will put myself forward."

"I auditioned as Ariel but I didn't get that part as the bEAP team thought I would be better in a different role! They were right I think as I enjoyed being a villain much more!"

Audition material is available on this website just look for the tab in the menu.

This group follows the exact same model as BEAP and will perform the same show as that group, except this group only takes 50 children. This year we are working on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Each 2 hour rehearsal concentrates on different aspect of the show and through this process the children not only get to build on all three musical theatre attributes, singing, dancing and acting but also on their teamwork skills. They are responsible for all aspects of performance including writing and designing the programme, set design and stage hands when the time comes.

COST: We work off each BEAP hour costing £2.98 per hour. This has increased this year by 50p per hour in response to the rising costs mainly of hire of rehearsal facilities. If compared to similar activities across Liverpool you can really see how this is great value with some organisations asking as much as £9.50 per hour.

This year we have extended the course in response to the unusual early Easter so unlike last year where we finished end of April this forthcoming year we will not finish until end of June.

The cost for the whole year is £260 which we have divided into two payments, £130 due when you register for the course and the second payment due on in January. If you would prefer to pay monthly this can be arranged so do contact us directly. In our attempt to make the arts accessible to all we offer a free 10% of places to talented children who otherwise might be exempt from taking place due to finances, please contact us directly if you would like one of these scholarship places.

This fee includes all extra rehearsals and all costumes. You will not be asked for any extra money unless you want a cast T shirt which the children design themselves or tickets for performances. Requests for tickets are sent out after Feb half term.

If you would like a role in this years cast then please do contact us. At the time of updating this web page there are currently 10 places left available.

Finally to any children who are going into year 6, we know how busy September is for you with entrance exams etc. If you wish to miss any of the audition prep rehearsals you may still audition on October 15 and we will support you in any way we can.
